Mistakes Are Experiments
Mistakes are experiments and they’re essential for personal growth
Everyone is going to make mistakes in life but they’re more like experiments, and you’re human so nobody can be perfect 100% of the time. Making mistakes can be beneficial because it’s one of the best ways to grow as a person. But learning from those mistakes is what actually makes that growth occur.
If you or someone you know is continually making the same mistake, then that’s not beneficial. That means nothing is being done to try to take the right course of action. In order to learn from mistakes, taking responsibility needs to happen. Taking responsibility means that the blame isn’t being put on anyone or anything else. You have finally owned up to what you did wrong, therefore you can only move forward.
Scott Berkun stated in his article which you can find here: “Wise people admit their mistakes easily. They know progress accelerates when they do.”
Mistakes are considered experiments
Experiments are made up of trials and errors. Mistakes are a combination of trials and errors. Mistakes can be made in every aspect of life. For example, your first child has a hard time doing homework as soon as they get home, but you feel as though it needs to be done at that time. Overtime you’ve realized that your child needs time to relax and eat a snack after school, otherwise homework time ends up in a fight. That is now how homework time is handled, with some relaxation and a snack before anything else. You have officially experienced an experiment because you went through trial and error with your child, and you came out a better parent because of it!
This goes for your professional life too. You can never grow if you aren’t trying new things. It can be scary trying new things because there’s the chance you’re going to fail. But do you ever actually fail? No, because if you’ve failed at something, then now you know what not to do. There is always room to grow and be the best version of yourself, whatever that version may be!
