Month 9

FOCUS : WELLNESS

The focus this month is wellness. Wellness has many components, as outlined in the email. All aspects need to be touched on to create true wellness. Luckily, these are easy to achieve. Many activities can help to improve all aspects of wellness. The email this month will help you start an office conversation about wellness. Likewise, use the shorter weekly messages to reach employees.

Volunteering is one way to improve multiple aspects of wellness. Again, host another volunteer event for your employees.

[Greeting],

Throughout our daily life, we all experience wellness in some degree; some areas of wellness more than others. The National Wellness Institute (NWI) breaks these down into these 6 categories. Physical Wellness: fitness, nutrition, medical self-care. Emotional Wellness: care for emotional crisis, stress management. Social Wellness: communities, families, friends. Intellectual Wellness: educational, achievements, career development. Spiritual Wellness: love, hope, charity. Occupational Wellness: choosing a career that is parallel with personal values, creating transferable skills.

Creating a well-rounded life of wellness can help individuals discover their needs, wants, and/or values while determining how to apply each aspect within their lives. This also helps to identify ways to use one’s skill set within the community. Contributing time within the community and creating healthful social environments can increase the amount of wellness within your life.

It’s a challenge to create a well-rounded life. Challenge yourself to incorporate the 6 aspects of wellness into each day. You can also start by working them into each week if that’s more manageable. Whatever challenge you want to give yourself, always know that focusing on even one aspect can make a great change in you and your community.
