Privacy Policy

Dear Member or Parent/Guardian of Member,

Thank you for visiting our website located at (referred to below as the “Site”). The Site is owned and operated by Project Helping, Inc., a Colorado Not-For-Profit Corporation (referred to below as “we,” “us” or “our”). We have developed the Site to further our mission to use the Internet to help facilitate and promote volunteerism and community involvement, and we try to provide safe, entertaining, and educational content. We recognize the importance of privacy concerns, especially on the Internet, and, with this in mind, we have developed this Privacy Policy for the Site.

Personal Information
“Personal information” means your name, home address, e-mail address, telephone number, credit card information, or any other information that can be used to identify or contact you either personally or on the Internet.

When you register on the Site, we may ask you for information such as your name, email address, and the state and country where you live. We will also ask you to select a username to identify you on the Site and a password. The username and password should not include your name, phone number, or other “personal information.” You should not give your password to anyone else.

If the date of birth you provide indicates that you are less than 13 years old, we will not ask for any personal information at registration. Instead, we will ask for your first name, your parent’s name, and your parent’s e-mail address, and we will communicate only with your parents and will not contact you directly.
If the date of birth you provide indicates that you are 13 years old or older, we will ask for your first and last name, and your e-mail address.

If we ask you to provide “personal information” on the Site at any other time, we may explain the reason for collecting the information (such as collecting your email address if you request to receive a newsletter), and we will use the information only for the purpose described or other purposes permitted by this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell or exchange e-mail addresses with others. However, we sometimes use other people to help us operate our Site, and we may share personal information with them for that purpose. In such a case, we will require them to keep any personal information we provide to them private and to use it only for the purpose that we have contracted with them.

In order to process any prizes, we will require your name, address, and e-mail address and other personal information. If you are under 13 years of age, we will require a parent’s contact information and not your own. When requesting information, we will indicate which information is required and which is optional.  We may contact you in connection with your relationship, activities, transactions, and communications with us.

For your safety, do not disclose any personal information on the Site, and particularly not in any public areas of the Site. While we do not have any obligation to review any public materials on the Site, we do reserve the right to review any submissions and reject or delete any content that could endanger the safety of any Member or for any other reason.

Information Collected Automatically
We also collect information by various technical means, without your submitting any information, in order to help us understand the usage of the Site and to enhance the user experience. As an example, this information might include the number of visitors to the Site, the most popular pages, and whether visitors have a high or low bandwidth connection to the Internet. The information collected in this way generally is not personal information.

For example, we may collect data automatically through “cookies,” “web beacons,” and “web logs” that are commonly used on the Internet.

A “cookie” is a piece of information that a website transfers to a user's computer for record-keeping purposes. As a user moves from page to page at our Site, a cookie is used to tell us that it is the same user. We also may use a cookie to keep track of your selections. You may set your Internet browser to accept or not accept cookies, and you may delete any cookies that you have received. However, should you decide to disable any cookies we place on your computer, you may not be able to use certain services or features on the Site.

A “web beacon” is a one-pixel image (which may be visible or transparent), which may be embedded on a web page or e-mail message, and which may also provide us with information about usage of that page or e-mail message.

We also maintain web logs that record basic information about visitors to our Site such as the Internet Protocol (IP) address for their computers and the type of browser and operating system they use. An IP address is a number designated for your computer by your Internet service provider to provide access to the Internet. We may use your IP address to gather aggregate information on the use of the Site, but we will be able to identify you individually only if we link the IP address to you as a particular user.

Additional Uses and Disclosures of Information
We may disclose and use the personal information we collect in connection with investigations of illegal or unauthorized activity or in response to requests by law enforcement agencies as well as government and other authorities. We may disclose personal information to protect our rights or property or other users of the Site.

If the Site or our company is sold, the information we collect on our Site may be transferred with the Site and/or the business.

If you participate in any survey, we may disclose your answers to the survey questions, but will not disclose any of your personal information with those answers. Instead, we will identify the answers by general information such as your age or grade, gender, state or country. We also may use this type of general information to measure the interest in, and use of, our Site generally and specific areas of the Site and use this general information to improve the Site or for e-mails to third parties in the form of aggregate data such as overall patterns or demographic reports that do not describe or identify any individual user.

We will try to protect the security and privacy of sensitive information collected on the Site. However, because the Internet is an open means of global communications, we cannot guarantee that information provided over the Internet or stored on our system or in our care will be safe from hackers or others.

In the unlikely event that we believe that the security of your personal information in our possession or control may have been compromised, we may seek to notify you. If a notification is appropriate, we will try to do so as promptly as possible under the circumstances, and if we have your e-mail address, or your parent’s, we may notify you by e-mail. You consent to our use of e-mail to give notifications of this type. If you prefer us to use another method to notify you, please e-mail us at with the alternative contact information you want us to use.

Links From the Site to Other Websites
When you are on our Site, you may have the opportunity to visit, or link to, other areas, including to different pages on our Site and to websites that are not part of the Site and are operated by others. When you link another website, you become subject to their terms of use and privacy policies rather than ours. You should review privacy policies of these websites regarding any personal information that they may collect about you. We are not responsible or liable for the privacy practices of others, and your use of other websites is at your own risk.

Children Under 13
We take certain precautions to protect the privacy of our child members and do so in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. We do not collect personal information from users whom we know are under 13. However, we do not want to prohibit children under 13 from becoming Members and using our Site. We do not ask for children under 13 to provide any personal information when signing up to become a Member or at any other time. Any contact with a Member under 13 will be directed to a parent at the parent’s e-mail address provided at sign-up.

If a Member under 13 submits any materials that include personal information about the Member, we will not keep this personal information in our possession and will delete the personal information from our records unless the Member’s parent authorizes us to retain such information.

If a Member under 13 contacts us, we may obtain the child’s online contact information and respond to the child once without contacting the child’s parent. We will not contact the child again for any reason and will delete the child’s online contact information from our records. If the child’s request will require more than one response, we will send an e-mail to the parent, at the e-mail address provided at sign-up, stating that (1) we have obtained the child’s e-mail address to respond to a request from the child, and more than one contact with the child will be required; (2) the parent can request that we make no further contact with the child and delete the child’s online contact information from our records; and (3) if the parent does not respond, we may contact the child for the purpose of responding to the child’s request but for no other reason. If a parent receives such an e-mail notification, the parent can reply to the e-mail or send an e-mail to

We cannot condition a child’s participation in a contest, game, offering of a prize, or any other activity or service on or available through the Site on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity. If a Member under 13 wins a prize or contest, a parent will be contacted, at the e-mail address provided at sign-up, and the parent will be asked to provide information necessary for the receipt of the prize. The parent will be given the option to decline receipt of the prize.

Any parent of a child under 13 who has provided personal information to us, through a public submission or otherwise, may request a description of the personal information that has been collected from or about that child and either limit or restrict any further maintenance or use of such information from that child and/or direct us to delete it. Also, a parent may decline to allow any future collection of personal information from that child. Such requests can be made by contacting us at We will take reasonable measures to verify that the requestor is, in fact, the parent or guardian of the child in question before providing a child’s personal information.
